Directions: From South OC, take 405 North exit Culver and turn RIGHT. Left on Warner Ave, Right on Paseo Westpark, just pass the 2nd stop sign, Santa Cruz Park & Community Pool parking lot is on the LEFT (next to KinderCare)
About the run: Second half of the run is our Summer Thursday night run going in the opposite direction. It is an easy, flat, bike trail with 8.25 and 10.5-mile loop options. The run starts from Santa Cruz Park, LEFT on Paseo Westpark, and 0.5 mile away joins the Peters Canyon Trail (next to Peters Canyon Wash). LEFT turn and follow Peters Canyon all the way around the roller-skating rink to Bill Barber Park (water & restroom). Stay on the trail going south which will turn into San Diego Creek Trail. Continue along San Diego Creek trail toward Woodbridge High School, pass Windrow Community Park (water & restroom), and go Jeffrey Rd.
For 8.25-mile loop, left turn onto Jeffrey Rd and run past Barranca Pkwy and Irvine Center Drive. Turn left on Walnut Trail (summer Thursday night club trail along the train track). Run 2.1 miles along Walnut Trail to Harvard Ave, LEFT at Harvard Ave run 0.5 miles to Paseo Westpark. Left on Paseo Westpark run 0.2 miles back to Santa Cruz Park.
For 10.5-mile loop, stay on San Diego Creek trail to Sand Canyon Ave. LEFT at Sand Canyon Ave to the train track underpass. LEFT at the bike path (Walnut Trail) along the south side of the train tracks. Stay on Walnut Trail for 3 miles, LEFT at Harvard Ave run 0.5 miles
After the Run: Pool Party at Santa Cruz Pool, 6-Lane Junior Olympic (25-yd) heated pool, outdoor shower, and warm spa to recover. Swim cap for your hair and goggles to protect your eyes are highly recommended. Change into your swimsuit to cool down in the pool or relax in the spa after a quick shower.
We’ll have food and hang out by the pool side. Bring some potluck breakfast items to share or donate $$ to get Peet’s coffee and a chicken burrito. Bring your eco-friendly water bottle to refill water.
Note: NO GLASSWARE ALLOWED AT THE POOL.
