Saturday Run - Santa Ana River Trail (new starting location)
Leader: Sarah Lee
Location: This is another variation of a Santa Ana River Trail run that starts a little closer to the ocean. We'll meet at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa (2525 Placentia Avenue, Costa Mesa 92626). Park at the end of the parking lot, closest to the bathrooms.
About the Run: We'll take the paved path down towards the river and zigzag our way onto the main wooden bridge to cross the Santa Ana River and then go left towards the ocean. From the start to the ocean is about 3.5 miles, to the Huntington Beach pier a total of 5.5 miles each way. You can go farther in either direction along the bike path to extend the run. Bathrooms and water at the start and multiple points along the route.
You can also add on some dirt miles at the beginning or the run in Fairview park. For those interested we can also take a more scenic detour at the beginning of the run along a flat, well maintained dirt path before getting on the river trail that will add about 1.8 miles to the run.
After the Run: Breakfast at Broken Yolk (2701 Harbor Blvd Suite E6, Costa Mesa, CA 92626). There also a Mendocino Farms and Better Buzz Coffee.

Routes - We'll run out along Peters Canyon Trail taking us into Peters Canyon Regional Park. The route is out and back, so the distance is self set. There are many ways to add more distance. You can do a loop around the reservoir or take the ridge route for some very challenging hills. In case of rain, the Peters Canyon trails may be closed. Run leaders may advise running the “down route” south towards Tustin (as opposed to North to Peters Canyon) with the turn around at Bryan.

The first Thursday of every month, join SCRR for our club meeting (located at Heritage Park Community Center). The meeting begins at 7:30 PM.
Following the club meeting (approximately 8:00 PM), we head to Lamppost Pizza for dinner (14450 Culver Drive Suite #E, Irvine, CA 92604)

Saturday Run - San Joaquin Marsh/turtle rock loop
Leader: Cathy Shargay
Location: Wholesome Choice, 18040 Culver Dr., Irvine
Directions: Culver and Michelson, Irvine.
About the Run: Cross Culver, and run along Michelson. After crossing Harvard and bridge over river, make a left into the San Joaquin Marsh. There are many trails through the marsh around multiple ponds (any route works – just head away from the mountains). One option will be marked with chalk or flour. Come out on Campus and go left towards University. Cross bridge and go left on bike trail along University. After ¼ mile, just before the Korean Church, take the path going towards the right. In 100 yards, this path hits University near the intersection of University and Harvard, go left, cross both University and Harvard, and continue down University about 150 yards to an entrance to Mason park on the right. Enter and follow the trail towards the left which runs parallel to University. When this trail hits Culver in 0.6 miles, cross at the light, and reenter the trail just slightly up the road to the right. After another 0.6 miles, there is a triangle in the trail, and take the right heading towards Turtle Rock. The trail crosses one small street, and just past the water fountain, take the trail branch going up to the street, and you’ll see the intersection of Campus and Turtle Rock loop. Go around the 4.1 mile loop (I prefer going counterclockwise, but either way works). When back to Campus, go right, and right on Culver back to the start. Maps will be provided, and we’ll mark many of the turns with chalk or flour.
About 10.6 miles (easy to add more miles)
After the Run: Mag’s Donuts and Bakery, Wholesome Choice or Subway - meet at outdoor seating near Subway

Saturday Run - 3 Piers
Leader: Kelcey Kinjo
Location: Meet at the Newport Beach Pier. Arrive early for parking (can pay by card or phone at the metered lot or find nearby street parking).
Directions: From the 5 Freeway to 55-S, follow signs to the Newport Beach Pier. Search “Sharkeez Newport Beach” on Google Maps for exact directions to the pier/pier parking lot.
About the Run: This is a club favorite that starts/ends at the Newport Beach Pier and takes us on endless flat miles along the beach! Most of the club will start from the Newport Pier and head north towards the HB Pier for an 11.1 mile out-and-back run, which can easily be shortened or extended for your desired mileage. Another option is to run south towards the Breakers (passing the CDM Pier) for a 5.75 mile out-and back. To get the three piers, you can start before the run to do the 5.75 mi Breakers run, then meet the club at the start to run the HB Pier run together. Restrooms and water fountains are available throughout the run, primarily clustered closer to the HB Pier.
After the Run: There are great deals on breakfast at Baja Sharkeez. Other options nearby are The Helmsman or Charlie’s Chili.

The standard loop is 10.5 miles. You can extend the run along the bike path or shorten the run by making it out and back as far as you like. Water is available at several points along the way (the start, and ~miles 3.5, 5, 7 along the standard loop).
After the Run: Moulin

Monday Night Club Run from Citrus Ranch Park
Location: Meet at Citrus Ranch Park in Tustin. Public restrooms and drinking fountains are available at the start.
Time: The run starts at 6:15 PM, so please arrive 10-15 min early to find parking and the group.
Pace and Distance - All levels of runners are welcome to join us. This run is out and back, so the distance is self-set. There are also several different routes available. Some walk, some do walk/run intervals, and some will run the whole distance.

Saturday Run - East Coto Ridge Run
Leader: Noreene M.
Location: 22351 Antonio Parkway, Rancho Santa Margarita CA 92688 (Plaza Antonio). Meet in the parking lot between Del Taco and Pavillions, near the Del Taco. Best to Google map the address.
About the Run: The run is a simple out and back trail run on the Bell View trail along the east ridge of Coto De Caza (Coto de Caza on your right and the Audubon Starr Sanctuary on your left). The trail is wide, open and well maintained for runners. The route is easy rolling hills and breathtaking views looking south to Casper’s Wilderness Park and north to Saddleback Mountain.
Run Directions: From the parking lot, turn left on Antonio Parkway. At the first traffic signal, cross over to Coto de Caza Drive. At the guard gate, turn left and head up Tijeras Creek Trail, continuing to Dove Canyon Drive. You will see the Dove Canyon waterfall on the right side of the street. Run up to the top of the short fire road and turn right. You are now on the Bell View trail. Water is at the covered picnic table (4.0 miles). Stay on the trail until you want to turn around and come back (6.7 miles to the third gate). Maps will be provided to help judge distance. We recommend that you bring water, as there are not many water stops.
After the Run: There are many breakfast options nearby including La Fiesta for breakfast burritos, Starbucks, Brugger’s Bagels, Board & Brew, Del Taco, and the Dougnut Parlor (all located in Plaza Antonio). There is also the new Aloha Stacks at 30461 Avenida de Las Flores and Santa Margarita Parkway nearby.
